With guest vocals by both Ron Sexsmith and Mary Margaret O'Hara, Night for Day is already unusual. Chris Warren's third release confirms him as a voice you really need to listen to. The effortless literary nature of his songs was introduced in Crazy Wisdom. Second album Beautiful Ruins received exuberant praise in Canada and the U.S.
As evocative as the late Elliott Smith, as funny, and sometimes as sad, Warren lets his songs do the talking. There are few in music who try to go as deep as he does. The melody-making and playfulness of his studio work prompted American Songwriter Magazine to compare Beautiful Ruins to The Beatles' Revolver. He will soon be releasing a "revised" version of Crazy Wisdom, his sprawling, ambitious first album, as "Wisdom Redux". Lullabies for Grown-Ups, a pure guitar/voice collection of new songs, will be released later this year.
